Wilmington, North Carolina has been selected as the first town in America to undertake digital switchover, the Federal Communications Commission has announced.
The Wilmington designated market area covers five counties with an estimated 179,000 TV households. It is ranked 135th in terms of size by Nielsen Media Research, is the smallest television market in the state, and is adjacent to the far larger Raleigh market to the west.
